Frame identification

Not sure if this is a panhead frame. Looking to find year and model please

left side neck XE-35 F not 100% on the F
right side neck casting stamp 15
front engine mount 48E-621
left side car loop 48E 762 01
left axle plate XE7 casting stamp 9
right axle plate XE6 casting stamp 7

I figure it is a 49 and up since I see a damper pin at the neck. Also don't see the horn mounting on the down tubes. Makes it a Hydra Glide frame. However the numbers on the frame make it a late 48' which would be a springer.

Edit: Not sure what I was thinking. 48' had no horn or mounting blocks on the down tubes but 49' did so a late 48' it is.

Looking some more at the down tubes and no horn mount. I think it has either had the horn mount ground off or it is a very early 49'

Most likely '48 with full round downtubes and no horn blocks. The boss for the pin was on them and late '48 was drilled as well, just no pin. Someone likely put a Hydra-Glide fork on at some point and installed a pin.The reinforced top motor mount ans the 7 and 9 axle plate numbers all point to late '48.

I also agree (as usual) with Robbie. My '48FL has the neck damper pin boss and the hole was filled with Bondo because it had been a chopper; otherwise, an un-tampered neck from a bon-e-fide (but molested '48. This is the kind of stuff that makes early production Knuckleheads, and Panheads so interesting.

I guess your wife is correct, Clark. I remember when motorcycles used to be "cool" and now it seems they are a Poindexter's paradise. Having said that, I am happy about it, and love wallowing in the endless details, minutia, and doing Spock's "Vulcan Mind Meld" with other goofy f**kers that love this stuff. I spent the day in my shop screwing around with the Henderson and really enjoying it.
