Where can I buy correct pistons for 705/706 rods for 74"? All I keep coming up with are '74 newer which has a .03 different wrist pin location. Tedd advertises '41-'77 but they are not, they are '74 and newer. I've been to BMI Carts which has old Dixie and all of theirs are '74 and newer? I have not tried Eastern yet, but probably from the same Taiwan plant as Tedd's. I have NOS OEM to check against and deffinitely show the .03 difference introduced in '74. Thanks.

Can you be more specific?
Got your old DIXIE catalog handy?

Tom, I do not have an old Dixie catalog. As far as being specific. This is what I bought from BMI that are all '74 newer. Their part # (maybe same as Dixie) J11228L020 74" Low Comp +.020, J11228L040 Low Comp +.040. Then I tried M11228L040 74" Low Comp +.040, M11228LSTD 74" Low Comp STD. All '74 newer wrist pin location. I just tried Tedd 11-0313 74" +.060. Same "74 newer. Tedd advertised '41-'77, should be '74 I believe. Curious if anyone checks the location or just assumes you are buying as advertised?? I have quite a few cylinders and just wanted to buy pistons for future use that are of the -53(low comp) or -55 (high comp) HD style not the -74 style. Thanks for the response Tom, appreciate the help.Bob Rice #6738

Bob,
Perhaps these measurements will help answer questions regarding the decision to purchase of the V twin piston kit.

Hope this helps,

Even though the bottom of the skirt is a non functioning surface it is very consistent in measuring the wrist pin height regardless of high or low compression.
pre '74 to centerline of wrist pin is 1.406" (1 13/32)
'74 newer to centerline of wrist pin is 1.375" (1 3/8)
Checking from bottom of oil ring land to centerline of wrist pin
pre '74 .656" (21/32)
'74 newer .687" (11/16)Bob Rice #6738

Duke, thanks for the chart. The ones I just bought from Tedd are low comp so I can't compare with your chart. The +.06 I just got from Tedd 11-0313 low comp measure approx. 1.937' (1 15/16) from top of piston to c/l of wrist pin.Last edited by BigLakeBob; Yesterday, 07:54 AM.Bob Rice #6738
