I have just bought a 1961 FLH - purportedly a Police Special - a lot of it seems to be there bits of it not so much.. I'm not aiming at perfection at the moment - just to get it something like and run it for a while.
I'm struggling to find a definitive spec sheet / parts catalog for it so need some advice and sources of information on that.
The speedo is a reproduction one and I am wanting to source a correct one for that year. I understand that the 61 was 2:1 ratio and that it would not have had the Police Special dials that the later ones had?
Also interested to know if it should have an external oil filter - none fitted at the moment - l will be replacing the braided steel lines it came with..
Would the Police Special have had a steering damper fitted? This one doesn't and the hole in the handlebar cover blanked off.
The electrics have been converted to 12v which I am ok with but the regulator is solid state and out of keeping with the rest of the bike - would a mechanical 12 v Delco Remy be a reasonable work around?
I'll post some pictures when I have some and have worked out how to get them on here....
Thanks in advance
