  • Replacement steering lock key for '48 FL frame

Hi Guys, I have a genuine 48 frame with the lock intact - any ideas where I can find a key - there do not seem to be any codes on or near the lock

    Thanks

An actual locksmith can easily make a key using the Briggs and Stratton type key blank as your ignition. Those neck locks get rusted inside and will require a lot of penetrating oil and loosening technics.

If it is a genuine frame with the original lock there is a code on the face of it. If the lock was replaced with a later one there is not due to the stainless cover used.

I brought my frame to a locksmith and he used a MACK blank. As in truck

It is a standard key (the Briggs&Stratton pattern) that a competent locksmith can almost look at and figure out. It is a project to put your frame in front of a locksmith's eyes but that's all you have to do. You won't be the first to haul your frame to a locksmith's shop.
