  • Pan trans question

Hey, I have a 64 FL cop bike with 3 speed and reverse that I want to change to a 4 speed. Can this be done with my tranny case or do I need a 4 speed case? Thanks.

You should be able to use your tranny case but only high gear, 3/4 shifting fork and the mainshaft of the rest of it can be used. Jerry

I'm sure that all '36 - '64 cases are pretty much interchangeable. If you were looking to do the opposite procedure you may have had to do a little "relief" work for that reverse gear. You should be good to go! I'm sure others may weigh on the subject though.

Well there you go... Jerry did!

Isn't the shifting drum different also? I am pretty sure that it is.

            Yes...the shifting drum from a 3 speed reverse won't work with a 4 speed...........unless of course it's a 39 with neutral between 2nd and 3rd.

Hey thanks for the info n I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions when I get into this. I'm definitely not lookin foward to the winter but really lookin foward to a 4 speed.
