  • Skull Dash

A question on the skull dash 1936-1938.
Was the extension skirt around the front of the dash cover, welded to the main body or spot welded?
I know aftermarket covers have little tack welds but I have never had an original up close for inspection.
    Thanks in advance

Steve, good question, so I just went out to the shop and looked at 2 orig and one aftermarket. The org are spot welded and they also have a more distinct ledge on them than the after markets. The after market also had the 3 little, what looked to me like welds or brads to hold the skirt on, hope this helps, I was curious also, thanks, Larry

Thanks Larry. I bought one of these aftermarket dashes from a distributor that I thought would be "OK" but it misses a hole and the dash hole does not fit so I thought I would look on ebay again and a seller has one for sale with an original looking dash base behind it. But it has welds on the inside so I will steer clear of it.
      Thanks for the info.
      Regards Steve

The lens in the re-pop is not installed anything like the originals either.
