  • Speedometer ID and recommendation for rebuilder?

Pulled the speedometer off my '46 EL yesterday. It's not working, but believe it is original and correct. Would appreciate any input. The glass on this is domed. But I can't read any lettering on the back.

The needle is white and swings freely and the drive turns. But there is no movement when I spin the drive. The trip meter would probably reset, but I don't want to force it. There don't seem to be any loose bits inside!

I'd rather get this restored than buy a repro speedo head, so any recommendations on a good speedometer or instrument restorer would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Thats an odd speedo, It is a 47 face with a with a white pointer from a 41-46 speedo and a black bezel. I have never seen another like it.

The face and can are from a 47. The speedo has been worked on at least once before since the rivet heads holding the face on are larger than original. Probably when the white needle was installed.

I once had a Bullseye speedo with OD colors. Obviously a WWII unit. It had never been opened yet the needle in it was a 1936-1940 type. I guess during the war they used what they had on hand. That needle stayed in there for as long as it took me to pry the bezel open.
