Speedo Cable Bracket - Above Serial # Between Tabs

ordered in a missing part for the 39 which is the speedo cable clamp that mounts to the left engine case on the stud that runs from the left case to the right case where the carb mount bolts to.

The clamp fills in the opening between the serial number embossment area and the 2 aluminum fingers that run up for about 1/2" or so.

I've been trying to find close up images of how this works, is there a spacer behind the clamp? Also, the stud that is used on this 39 is short and leaves no room for the reproduced Colony product clamp that has an open jaw thtga looks like it requires the jaw to be clamped down before mounting.

Can anyone fill in the missing blanks on this?

Found out there is only 4 maybe 5 Knuckleheads on this island and pickins' are slim to none when it comes to going to meets to see anything locally for reference.

Maybe someday a AMCA chapter can be organized here to develop more interest in older machines as this is sorely needed here.

No spacer. Just slip it over the stud and tighten up the nut.

Pardon me, but why is the statement about a chapter here way out of line? Since I have not attended events of the AMCA how is one supposed to know protocol?

The fact is there is not a chapter here. So people who may have older machines have no venue to show off their interest and thus build a base for what could be something worthwhile for those who do own older machines here in Hawaii.

Rich, if you get an AMCA roster, you could find out how many members live in Hawaii. Perhaps you could contact them and see if there is an intrest in starting a Hawaiian chapter. I didn't see anything wrong with your comment.

Thanks for this reply and I understand now why you wrote what you wrote. Please disregard the PM sent, howe ever if you have any tips on how to organize in Hawaii such as what Eric wrote I am highly receptive.

Back to the speedo cable image and assembly of the clamp, is the bottom of the clamp with the bent arm extending inward meant to keep the clamp off/away from the cylinders thus reducing a heat sink effect which could cause cable issues?

I didn't mean to put you on the spot Chris. It seems like many of us on our forum are a bit touchy as of late. A friend and infrequent poster made the comment to me that the AMCA forum is contentious and a bit mean. I was thinking about this today and I believe it's because there are very knowledgeable people here and their responses are based on real knowledge and not b.s. Not to put down other "biker" oriented forums, but the AMCA forum is populated by people that know their stuff and sometimes that can come off as 'snooty'. I know we don't alway agree Chris, but I have always had a lot of respect for your knowledge of H.D's and the effort you put into helping people with pictures and the stuff you do know.
