      Full NOS set of '40 top trim and the box, full set of NOS '38-'39 top of fender strips, and Squashed Birds.

        Robbie Does your early 1942 also still have the early type tappet block and how about the zerk bosses on the springer rockers.

          From '38 to '42 each year trim got a bit fancier, for '38 Deluxe it was the top of fender strips. '39 all models got the new side fender trim which continued to '42 but Deluxe also got the top fender trim like '38. The '40 deluxe got the triple strips and chevron. '41 Deluxe got the squashed birds front and rear. And last the '42 Deluxe got squashed birds and the new chrome eagle fender tips which went on to be one of the most popular add-ons ever from H-D. Then all trim stopped for the war and it wasn't until postwar that trim started to reappear. All the trim was sold over the counter so many earlier model or current model owners could purchase the kits and add whatever they wanted to their bikes which we see examples of in this thread.
