I have had this original Paint fender for years .Came off a 41. Has 2 strips one each side. It was held on with we use to call speed nuts. They were is auto body moldings.I still had some left over.

Those two side strips were '38 and '39 Deluxe models only.

They are not as far as I know, and they are extremely rare.

These are photos of what I think is an original squash bird and side strips on my 1941 Knucklehead.

Robbie you are correct. The previous owner installed the Eagle fender tip bit it is a neat item even though it is not year appropriate.

                  Howdy chaps,

Sneak one in here while this thread is wandering off topic. Can anyone identify the source of the Chevron and fender strips affixed to my 41 FL? They were acquired NOS in a box in the early 80’s when this machine was restored by the previous owner. Thanks in advance.

They are various parts of this set which was standard on '40 Deluxe package and available for several years over the counter. The shorter set along with the chevron on the front fender, the longer set on the rear fender.

Thanks Robbie! This machine was owned/restored by the gent who has the 36 called Flying Cloud and this was his first of many Knuckles since.

I do not know about the stripes but the Chevron is a 1940 HD item on I think all 1940's except the utility option.

                          PRG

Very nice ........... Do you have a pic of chain oiler screw/bolt that goes straight in as oppossed to the later ones that go at an upward angle which I have seen or does your have the
                          newer style ??

Stainless trim first year goes thru 46 correct..

7’’ Air Cleaner with a longer manifold

Airplane style Speedo with black background and easy to see white numbers with a bigger needle painted white.

neck rake increased to 28° from 25° and forks were straitened

                          no longer swept forward.

Die Cast brake handles (2 year only no slots for cable)

one year only oil pump chain oil screw goes straight into body

42 and later the chain oiler screw goes in at an angle,

Clutch pedal running on two bushings and a grease fitting on pivot point for easy maintenance

Clutch shift linkage is one piece forged steel instead two pieces steel rod that are either brazed or welded together.

Tool box brackets held in place with 3 -1/4 x 24 bolts and for most 41 models mounted up high along frame rail

New ROCKET FIN Muffler used till 49

Notes I have made reading this forum ,Dale's WTTM vids and Carls Cycle shop vids -you guys are a wealth of information thanks !
