  • Reproduction Gas Tanks.41-46

Is there a way to tell the Reproduction 41-46 Gas Tanks from the original.I bought a set of tanks and they hit the rear off the the dash base. You can not raise the tank enough to get the bolts to line up an the frame. Is Vtwinn the only one making them.Do they have the tank strips on them.

Before and after of the Vtwin tanks I bought about 15 years ago. Had to oval out holes to get them aligned. Braze around filler neck and fuel shut off. Terrible gap. I used lead to redefine the gap. Had mounts for emblems and strips. Don't know who is making tanks now. Hopefully they're better.

I recently mounted a set of tanks and ran into a problem with the rear of the dash base hitting the tanks. The base was aftermarket, the tanks are factory. I had to trim the rear of the base to get everything to fit. Perhaps you have the same problem...

From my experience the rear of the reproduction tank is wider than an OEM one.

Samwell Supplies lists a tank set, but not sure where they come from. Perhaps Polish like lots of their stuff. But I've never seen any in person.
