!946 and above when they went to the shock instead of the slider dampner and they didn't go to 12v till 1965 and that horn was gone by then I believe.

I thought only the 6 bolt horn has the steel bracket attached to it?

They do. and mounts are 100% different. 9 bolt horns use the early lower bracket at the fender with holes in it.. Later horns they changed that bracket to having slots in it. again will all different hardware. 9 bolts were also used on VL but again different hardware and set up to mount. Some of the hardware is the same but not all of it. basically already posted all that stuff above. Just trying to help not confuse you. When in doubt look at the pictures I posted for you. They changed horn mounting and hardware again a bit when they went from ride controls to shocks on the front forks again as well.
