Steering Head Lock Plunger Dimensions?

I have the lock cylinder and keys but I need the plunger, roll pins and spring. I thought I might try to make the plunger but I don't know the dimensions. Anyone have an idea on these dimensions?

Also what size is the roll pin?

Instead of a diffcult to remove roll-pin (only one was used; Earlier models used something like a screw with the head chisled off), I tapped for a very small set screw, and capped over it with paint and stuff.

And I always avoided a spring.

The frame already head the lock removed so I used a 4-40 tap and installed a set screw instead of the roll pin. Worked perfect!

I'm a bit confused about some of the numbers in your pic. I understand that .497" is the overall diameter but the number next to it is .23? and which dimension does that reference?

And the number above the groove is 43 something?

I noticed this thread in the "Knuckleheads" category and I always thought that knucks didn't have the steering lock ....that it was used on the VL and again on later year pans but for some reason omitted from the knucks. Is this not so? Just curious....Smitty

You sir, are correct. I incorrectly put this in the knucklehead category. It’s going on a 1948 panhead frame.
