  • Who makes good knucklehead reproduction rims?

I have some original hubs that need rims for a 46. Who makes good ones? Thanks

If you are talking 16 inch, there are still quite a few good original usable rims to be found. If 18 inch, I ordered a pair from CWS moto in Poland and they were exceptional and arrived within a week. He is also very good at corresponding and follow through.

Thanks. I’m looking a set for 16”. I just brought a pair back from the dead for an op build. This set will be going on a restored bike.

I think I have a pair of 16" Kelsey-Hayes, and really nice chrome if I remember. Or, Starklite Cycle has some good reproduction, I think Indian and Harley are same. He wants $239 plus shipping and tax each. Starklike.com I will check on mine and see, likely $400-500 a pair if perfect as I remember.?? Came off 1946 Chief, I wanted 18" on the Chief when I restored it years ago.

Thanks Knuck. My wheel guy told me he could only get wheels made in China and Taiwan so I didn’t move forward with building the wheel set. I’m wasn’t looking for chrome but he told me people can blast it off. Please send a pic of yours.

I will pull those out and see what I have. Chrome cannot be removed it can only be textured with the correct type of blast media, to be painted or powder coated.

Chrome on the 2 rims are about a "9" on a 1-10 scale

I may be mistaken but I believe that chrome plating can be easily removed by reversing the plating process...This was told to me by a friend who works in a plating shop. Hope this helps in what you're trying to accomplish. Smitty

Removing good usable plating is a shame. OEM chrome rims are much harder to find in usable shape than black ones.

I absolutely agree with Robbie. I am building the wheels for my '51FL and I have a set of chrome non-safety bead K-H rims that have some rust showing in a few sections. 95% of the chrome is good so when the bike is parked, I'll just keep the rust at the top so I can't see it.
