Question about 47 Knuckle tool box mount

Hi, new to the forum but not to old bikes. Restoring a late 1947 non-bull neck straight leg Knuckle and I am attempting to use the correct tool box mounting bracket 47386-41 does it take the three hole bracket or two hole is it mounted with bolts or welded i have seen it various ways? I would prefer someone who has and original late 47 to explain. Thanks much oldblu.

    Vertical bracket welded to frame.
Horizontal bracket mount high with three parkerized screws, police bikes differ.

55tmm: thanks for the very informative information, i will be putting loctite bags on mine as well, does yours have a two hole or three hole horizontal bracket and is it welded on or bolted on and hoping you have a late xe-12 frame. this would be most helpful. Thanks again oldblu.
