The guy selling it wants $4K for it... and the guy trying to buy it is trying to knock him down on price. I told him he was an idiot and to run, as fast as he can, back to the seller and buy it at that price... and probably even give him some extra so you don't feel bad.

Some people ARE knuckleheads... they shouldn't be riding them...

I would have had the checkbook out so fast, it would have lit my pants on fire like a match.

I'll post pix if he gets it. If he doesn't... everyone is in line right behind me.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

You are 100% correct. Even if the numbers are questionable, at 4 grand, the money would be flying out of my pocket and the trailer loaded in 5 minutes. Or less. Doin a hunnert down the hi-way.

But that seems about it. Lots of modern bits, late trans, etc. But the core of the bike appears to be a '47 FL with an uncut frame and a relatively unmolested engine. The number is 47FL1009. If I am correct, that makes it a VERY early 47?

Any input folks? Bike is a barn find. I have pictures but can't post yet. I am working on permission. It is grotty, but there. Bad attempt to make it all choppery but it could be recommissioned to run as is (real period bobber/chopper) or restored. Not sure what the prospective owner wants to do. So far, he is trying to buy it but doesn't want a fake case set. IMHO, the thing has sat 30 years. Noone was faking cases back then except to fool police. And this just doesn't look like that. I am trying to get a close-up of the Case number... I can't tell what the stampings look like.

Pardon rambling. I haven't had coffee yet.

        Thanks,

I know this is over a year old and this is my first post. I was reading another forum and there was some discussion about searching VIN #'s. I put my vin in and this thread was one of the 2 hits. I felt like a mother that has been searching for her child that she HAD to give up...! I believe I owned that bike back in the early '60 that I was told to get rid of before I went in the service for the next 4 years. I'll try attaching some pics. I would like to know what finally happened......??
