Not my era but it has the gusset under the neck that came out about 1920 so '20-'24. There may be numbers stamped on the tank mount plate on top of the top tube in front of the seat casting. Many are too rusty to read

As Roger said, it has the reinforced neck which puts it in the last generation frame type before the Streamlined J's. As Roger also said, look for that number near the seat lug if it is still legible.

Thanks Duffey & Eric. I managed to wire brush the seat lug area serial number pad. The numbers are...2316 113

post a side view of the top rear motor mount and I can narrow it down further.

Hello JoJo

Some years ago Mark Masa identified a similar frame for me which was missing the plate with the stamped date and number. As I recall, the key indicators were: (1) the reinforced neck (1920-on); (2) the oval shape of the holes in the rear top engine mounts (1921-on);

(3) the shape of the join of the seat forging to the rear frame members - a visible "step" rather than a smooth transition (1923-on);

and (4), the muffler brackets; 1915-on and not the different brackets for the 1924 box muffler.
P1030590.JPG All these meant it was a 1923 frame. It may be that some of these changes were made mid-years but, generally, have I got this right Mark?

If that frame number is 23F6113 or 23J6113 then job done.

Your frame is mid 1922 - mid 1923

Kindly Thank You to all involved. That #1. i initially listed on the serial numbers, was an F. So it's 23F6 113~instead of 2316 113.

Were any frame numbers of this era stamped with a "J"? Years ago I was told with great confidence by someone who claimed expertise (very rash) that V-twin frames of this era were all stamped with an "F" - as in 2XFXXXX - even if the machine was an electrically equipped J or JD. Was there any evidence for that assertion?
