  • JD 1926 Timer

    Hi
Can anyone explain me what happens if there are a worm gear 1648-26 (1 cylinder) fitted, instead of the correct worm gear 1648-18 (2 cylinder) on the generator shaft
The timer is fitted with the correct timer shaft gear.
Will it work or shall the generator be dismantled, and fitted with the correct worm gear
    regards Erik

You need to replace the worm gear on the armature. Firstly, the two gears will not mesh properly and both will be quickly destroyed. Also, the timing will be off and the engine will not run. PM me. I have extra JD worm gears available.

      Hi
      Thanks for your reply.
.It was more or less ,what I have been afraid of.. I have tryed to start the motor ,but without succes. I am sure that the timing was correct, when I finished the assembling of the motor.
Are there any trial I can do, to be sure that it is a wrong worm gear on the generator ,before I dismantel the motor and generator??? I found 2 different worm gear in my shelfs, which one is correct for the JD26 .Regards Erik
