    The Only Info I Have Is I Would Have To Show You Where It Is. I Don't Know The Guy's Name But He Is In His 80's And Has A Lawn Mower Repair Shop. I Had To Literally Crawl Over The Old Mowers And Parts And Stand On My Head With A Flashlight To See The Vin Number. It Would Take 2 Or 3 Strong Guys To Lift It Up Out Of Where It Is And Move It Across The Pile Of Junk A Little At A Time Toward The Door. It Is About 12-14 Miles From Me Near A Little Town Of Westmoreland Tn

      Im gonna have to have more info to come that far and miss Davenport. Any chance of finding out who he is and if its for sale or not? I dont mind moving a few mowers to drag the thing outta there.

      Fabercycle- Im not looking for a performance bike, I ride a lot of underpowered crap and dont need to impress anybody on how fast I can go. Ive got other bikes for that and even they dont hold a stick next to the modern stuff. Thanks for the info tho, Im learning a lot here about the different models.

          Looking forward to Davenport, vending spaces are sold out. I'll be there Wednesday night so I can check in early. I paid for a spot anyway just to get in.

            Certainly the Harley WLA or Indian 741B is a good starter bike, and many people's first Harley (or Indian). The military contracts meant you have good manuals and parts books, while Harley must really have stitched up the military judging by the number of spare parts they sold them, and which are still out there. But these bikes seriously lack performance, especially if built with all the military add-ons, and you'll risk getting driven over by a truck if taking them on highways. Still nice bikes though - affordable, restorable and rideable.

              That is why ya make sure the Thompson is in the scabbard and a few pineapples are a hangin from the saddlebags. Paps

                hey, if you happen to be coming through the akron ohio area and wanna look at a bike, ive got a 1945 UL that i restored and ride on a regular basis and i never have any problems with it.

                      Nice bike, but I just came back from Ohio and probably wont be back until next year. Probably out of my price range (under 10k).

                        I recently went through the same delima. I wanted nothing but a flathead, and planned on it being a rider. Not just a sunday rider to the ice cream shop, but something I could ride on week long trips. I decided on a UL, for the extra power and torque. But certain model U, UL's, bring as much as a a knucklehead.

                          I hear ya. I thought I was just being realistic trying to dig up a 45 instead of the more desirable old ones (74's, Pans Knucks). 10k doesnt go very far anymore. Thinking about throwing it all at my 50 Ford F1 instead. Once I do that though, you KNOW ones going to turn up.

                            Be patient Scott, Something will turn up for you. With that kind of money to spend, you should be able to buy a very nice WL or a decent big flat or pan. You can always throw money at the old pickup. This is a good time to buy an old bike. Have a good look around at Davenport, coming up in a couple of weeks. Great bunch of people in the Omaha chapter, somebody ought to be able to help you find what your looking for.

                              Thanks Koanes, I havent given up yet and Im selling a couple more bikes at Davenport, so we'll see what shows up there. I found a couple locally and just waiting to see what happens.

                                im not interested in selling it. its been in the family since brand new, and it'll be in the family as long as im alive. as for all the chrome, its been on the bike as long as i can remember.
