  • VL fuel mileage - what to expect?

OK, the VLD is alive and today's test ride went much better than the last one which ended up with a not so zippy spark coil and a flatbed ride home.

The question of the day is.......while mileage will vary (that's bad, I know).....what should a VL get for miles to the gallon? Or, how many miles will a full primary tank provide?

    Thanks!

    I'll answer my own question.

The VLD is getting roughly 45mpg. The primary tank holds a little more than 2.5 gallons of gas but I've never run it dry.

I've always got decent milage out of my VL, I would say closer to 40 MPG. A better question may be how many miles per quart of oil.

my left side tank has a lot of rust so i don't use it, with the right i always figure on 100 miles tops.i.e. 40 mpg
