  • G motor cases

The first thing I do before posting a questing is doing search, so I don't waist peoples time, it never works. I've tried 'g motor' "g motor" plain g motorcycle anything with more then one word splits up the search. The question is are there any difference between a WL and a G set of cases, will everything from a WL swap over to a G motor? Also is there a way to search more then one word?

Year by year G and WL cases are identical except for the VIN number but because G's were made 20 years longer than WL's there are differences in late G cases after the ceasing of WL production. Most of it is cosmetic.

As stated, there is zero difference in "G" and "W" series cases. There are a minor few differences over the years as to ancillary parts that are added to the bare cases. And things such as waste, not waist can determine search differences . Sometimes it is only spelling and semantics that stop a search.

does using " " work for two-word exact searches here?

              Good morning,
I do not know what year this change started, but the later cam gears and cam cover will not interchange (will bolt up but is different internally). I do not recall if it is just the bushings in the cam cover.
I do not know, but you may be able to interchange those later gears and the later matching cam cover to an earlier engine. If I recall correct, the later cams are marked with "G"

I learned this the hard way believing all the parts are alike. One of the later cams for sure has a wider measurement. Those later cams are also marked different.
              Good luck,
              Scooter

That is a '59 change when H-D decided to use the same width of the cams for both Sportster and G. It only affects the rear intake cam and cover bushing. But the crankcase itself is the same as WL.
