C42FBE84-BC97-4A5A-B291-CB1B3510C9F4.jpeg I am trying to rewire my generator on my VL from 3 brush to 2 brush with the generator on the bike. I can’t seem to remove the end cap to access the wiring properly . There is a nut there to remove but it turns the motor when trying to remove. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That nut doesn't need to come off, the end cap is a light press fit on the bearing. Warm it up with a heat gun or hair dryer and it should slip of leaving the bearing and shims on the armature.

Still a cap in my way. I guess I won’t be able to get any better access to the wiring without removal of the generator ?

I was able to complete the 2 brush conversion without removing the generator from the bike.

Sorry, forgot the dust shield is under the bearing.
