My 1949 WL was wet sumping and I fixed it with a shut off valve. Most wouldn't go that route but it works for me. You just have to be responsible and turn it on if you turn it off. I had one stock on my 101 Scout and my Super X. I have seen them by the bottom back (supply line) of the oil tank on some Pans and Knuckles so I guess some just don't trust their check ball to not make a mess on the garage floor too. Just one option.DrSprocket

I am keeping the shut off valve as an option. Am pulling off oil pump today. After cleaning, will inspect seats with bore scope. Then lap.
A difference from my previous lapping is I will lightly abrade the ball to give opportunity for lapping compound to stay on rotating ball a bit longer. Will also use new (longer) springs.
i Will post results
