45 Fuel Line Conversion To Hose

I was reading an old article on race prep for 45's and saw they recommend replacing the steel fuel line with hose. While I won't be racing I will be riding this as much as possible and would like to avoid telling the cracked fuel line story. I currently have the steel line with the loop at the bottom going through the correct screen filter that I want to keep, then into an M88. Is there a hose fitting kit available?

You can get a rubber hose kit for a WLC which used them as standard. The rubber lines for the racers were totally different as they did not use filters and the line connected directly to the needle inlet, although you can make your own.

It certainly works as an "adapter", Paul!

But its actually the 27382-61 floatvalve for DC Linkerts.

H-D used a 90 degree adapter for the fuel lines on WR and KR models to prevent the fuel line kinking at the turn.

How common is it for the bottom loop steel lines to fail? Mine has no misalignment strain on it and has served me well so far.

Next to never if assembled in an un-strained position. The rubber sleeved type not at all, the earlier flared type usually only if under stress, or chromed. Chrome is a definite killer of flared lines.

As Rubone posted, Rex,..

The steel lines actually do quite well.

Fatigue occurs with excessive assemblies and disassemblies, which racers are most likely to suffer.

If that's the case I'll use the steel line, I prefer that look.
