Harley VL short spline brake hub with long spline wheel hub

I am running Harley VL long spline rear wheel and brake hubs on my 1931 VL. The brake drum is poor and I have a good rear brake drum and hub with short splines. I want to use my current long spline wheel hub with the better condition short spline brake hub/drum. Is the only part I need to change the current 3959-32 long spline axle sleeve to the short spline #3959-30 axle sleeve. Thanks.

Buster, the description & illustration in Steve's book would suggest that you are correct. The only difference between the 2 assemblies is the axle sleeve being for the short or long spline brake hub/drum.

I stopped making the two VL rear axle sleeves and have no plans for more, so they are getting hard to find in good condition.
