  • Linkert M41 boring-lapping

Any recommendations on a machinist that can repair Linkert carb body wear from a throttle plate? The wear looks pretty significant, plus there are some weird chatter marks, not sure how those occurred.

Saw a YouTube video of a west coast guy (Tatro) that solders up the gouges, then bores the solder and laps it back to size. I'm in Atlanta so would prefer to work with someone closer to this side of the country if possible.

    Its routine for me, NCriding!

I hone away the wear, cut a throttledisc, and swage the venturi oversize.

Unfortunately, I'm booked solid; But I'll tell you how to do it.

      Cotten!
Thank you, I would very much like to do this myself if possible. I have a nice Jet lathe and Jet Mill at my disposal, but lack the hones and expandable lappers, and the experience or knowledge to use it. Any advice or instructions would be much appreciated.
I’ve read your posts that you are no longer accepting new work or customers, so did not want to bother you directly.

Its only a moratorium on new customers, NCriding!

        (I'm losing the Schebler Wars.)

Much of your tooling can be made on the lathe and mill, but you are really going to want a hone.

Unfortunately, it invariably burrs the idle bleed holes if you set up and lathe-cut the bore, but you may have to...

Success at last! Successfully soldered the wear grooves, reamed it (very carefully), honed it, then tried my hand at Nickel plating. I used Caswell plating crystals and electrode, and think it turned out pretty well.
