  • VL rim offset

From the splined side of the hub, is the correct off set for a 19" VL rim 1/16"? Thanks!!

Dear Buster, yes around that. If you lie the wheel on its back with the splines facing upwards, a long straghtedge across the splines will clear the rim by say 2-3 mm each side.

Just wondering.... how "critical" is the offset? I mean... a 1/16" isn't much at all. What would "happen" if the wheels were perfectly centered with NO offset?

Don't confuse the term "offset". It doesn't mean the wheel isn't centered. It is merely a means of measuring the asymmetrically built hub to get it centered in the rim. And the common way to measure it back then was a straightedge and the hub "offset to one side or the other within that width, which actually "centers" it. Totally different than a wheel offset in a frame.
