Looking back at the original post,he says the 1939 45" fork legs were VL rigid & knuck spring fork.They are not that,they are different lengths etc.etc.

PS: What little memory I have thinks Herbert Wagner's revolutionary "Revolutionary Motorcycles..." described the 'field' adjustment performed cold, by gently depressing the spine of the frame, like with a sledge or something.
But I can't remember where my copy went.

Palmers. Page 31: second column first paragraph.
Talks about neck angle of 28 degrees needing to be bent out to 29 degrees while running a 16 inch wheel due to high speed wobble. Thought it might relate even though he’s working with a wl.
