Herb, here is what the motor looked like in the late 90's. Notice the shafts protruding from both sides of the crankshaft. I wonder what it was made for. I also attached the front cover from a Lake Motor Co. brochure. It lists all the uses for the motor. WOW! Jack of all trades.

Yeah, what was the purpose? From the ad it implies you could specify the Lake for any configuration you needed.

What is the date of that ad? Why do I think it's 1919?

Do you know of any other Lake motors in existence? It sure is Perry E. Mack cool. Jeff did a very interesting thing with it so long as people don't think it's a real vintage make but like Cory said: "What might have been."

Herb, I believe that the Lake was Jeff's own creation. I agree that he did do a really good job on his version of "what could have been".

Isn't the "Lake" motorcycle Jeff's own creation? That is, there was not a Lake motorcycle in the early days so far as I know. None existed until now.

But a wonderful looking job to be sure!

Notice how it states "famous" Waverley motor. How had it become famous this quickly and where did they get the name Waverley to begin with??? Did it have some earlier history we don't know about????

I checked the auction results earlier today and I didn't notice Jeff's machine. Maybe he decided not to sell it?

I was at Jeffs shop 2 week ends ago,to look at racer seats and do a quality comparison between the several board tracker seats he has, before I decide who to buy from.
2 of his bikes are at Vegas,He stated that they will be saved for the last day of auction
