I am having a difficult time finding out what is happening at the top of the clutch lever. As shown on the Chandler bike (white twin), the knob looks like it perhaps moves up/down to release from the guide that mounts below the tank. Anyone know what's going on here? Is there a catch that grabs the guide? It is different than the "T" handle used with the two-speed rear hub (that style rotates and allows the handle to slide). Here is the photo again.

I am a couple of years late on this one. For posterity..here is my grandpa's white '12 Thor and I'm not sure of the year on the other.

Great photos of the Otis Chandler Thor - any idea as to who bought it at the auction? If you've got any more photos of it, especially close-ups, I'd love to see them. I'm restoring a 13U at the moment and am about to paint it - would like to get the pin striping details right (looks like the frame has striping as well as the mudguards, gas tank and oil tank). Photo of my resto so far attached.

Beautiful Thor Rob. Love to hear more about it, and see more pictures. In one of the past issues of "The Antique Motorcycle" circa mid 70s; there was a good article about Thors. The author had written to the Thor company and got back a letter from an employee who had been with them since the motorcycle days. I'll see if I can dig that up.

Thanks for the reply Eric. I'll post some history and photos in the next couple of days. My Thor is the white one, earlier in the Silentgreyfellow posts, with the HUGE headlight.
Would love to see the article from the 70s.

              Regards, Rob

I've started a new Thread regarding the history and restoration progress of my Thor.
