    Finally got a response from BAR. They gave me a letter to show the VSSI station to use the Practical Service Limits that I found. Next step is to find a station that will actually do the inspection and accept the letter.

      Have you tried contacting the BSA club in England? They have all the factory records on that stuff.

        No I haven't, but I've got what I need now. I'm sure they'll have the factory build specs, but max wear specs are probably something the factory wasn't concerned about. My guess is the ones that are available are because government started mandating them .

          That wear limit was mandated in England a long time ago. Inspections are commonly talked about in English motorcycle magazines.

            That's great news! Good luck, and you may have saved a bunch of old bikes from being parted out.

              I went to a VSSI station that accepted the letter, did the inspection then refused to pass it because;

              1. no turn signals
              2. brake light not activated by front brake.

              I got an email from BAR stating that they were not required for this year/model and they called him, but he wasn't comfortable in passing it and refused (which is his right.)
              Bar sent me a list of 20 stations that have done motorcycles in the last 6 months, but it's not looking good so far.

              to be continued.

                Well, you got 20 more chances, and it seems like BAR is trying to help. Good luck

                  One of those worked out, got it passed today Still not a simple thing. They generally don't do bikes with drum brakes ( common reason for not doing older bikes) but they would do it if I pulled the brakes off (on site)so they could mic the drum and inspect the linings. Luckily the BSA is easy to disassemble, did the whole thing in less than an hour.
                  As far as BAR trying to help, they were good on the specs, but they're system is what is causing major problems, with focus only on auto rules and trying to apply them to bikes. I would have gotten nowhere if I hadn't been a pest.
