Nah, that one was intended for Russia, Chris. To be "suppressed" by the RED Army!Originally posted by Chris Haynes View PostOh oh!
I hope the judges got this one for the red S on the dash. It is supposed to be blue.

Well I had my 62 ch sportster there for the first time, I'm still taking in the experiance. I can't complain I walked away with a junior first @ 97.5 points. I was a little takin back by a 1.5 deduction on some blueing on the hi pipe. I ride the bike even though it's been restored and the judges need to hear it run so it's like jumping in a pool and someone telling you not to get your feet wet. That's what happens when you ride a motorcycle the pipes turn. I was happy with the first time out though.Originally posted by panz4ever View PostSo anyone who had their bike judged willing to share their score sheet in order to educate the masses (as was suggested in another post on the forum)1959 XLCH

What you're describing is specifically not to be a deduction. And for the reason you stated. File an appeal with the Chief Judge. Congratulations, anyway! Show it twice more and it's "Winners' Circle" just as it is, probably.

Damn, that is friggin gorgeous. Know nothing about judging but it seems like sarge has the right idea.
These are the types of pics folks who are looking to restore a bike can use to get it more correct the first time out.
Thanks murph...Anyone else care to share?

I think the points for bluing are wrong too, mine is blued about just like your, and I have yet to lose a point for it. But it's not like you can fix it, and you have enough points for the winners circle, so it does not really matter. It was probably just judges digging for something wrong with that wonderful bike.
To the original poster, thanks for the pictures!!!

Actually I don't want anything! All I did was answer a question by another member trying to educate himself, and asked a question trying to educate myself. I don't really need the whole cookie jar, I already have the cookies, the jar is what is empty.Originally posted by Robert Luland View PostKid ya want the whole cookie jar on the first shot. Melow. Or running a bit lean. Regardless though. Does judging incorporate how one tunes or maintains his bikes engine component adjustments, or...a leaking manifold ? No two engines are alike. No two carburetors are either. Appearance wise they are but adjustment wise they are not. I've seen thousands of machines become blue piped bikes shortly after coming out of the dealerships. The discoloration in those pipes are the result of the engines performance, not the correctness of the machine. PapsOriginally posted by T. Cotten View PostYou guys with blue pipes got vacuum leaks.

Paps!
When only one pipe blues, it ain't the carb!
We all agree that blue pipes shouldn't be a judging criteria, but we all know what happens when the judges can't find anything else.
