  • Vermillion and Maroon paint codes or matches

Im looking for modern formula or codes for Vermillion and Maroon. Im looking for these to paint my VL. I have two versions of Steve's book and have had difficulty in getting a good formula at a local auto paint store. The Maroon is referenced to Ford Burgundy.......anyone know a model and year that would steer me closer to a formula? Same thing with Vermillion, There is a Dihatsu color referenced, auto paint guy says it was a lacquer formula and can't seem to cross it to modern paint codes. Possibly I need to find another store.

Any help getting closer would be appreciated

      Here's what I'm using on my 32V

Here are pictures of the bottom of my 32V and the old paint. I was unable to get a spectrograph analysis of the paint sample. Normally to get a reading, I'm told, the area has to be flat and a 3 x 3 area. So the paint shop and I used paint chip samples to match as close to possible. It's Nason paint and you should be able to see the formula on the can.

I did a real quick dunk small Brush into the paint and then brushed it on two pieced of metal the dark sample had to primer on it

      hopes this helps

That is a great service for many people, Lippy and I hope people appreciate your efforts. Matching early colors is an art, and unfortunately computers are not that talented. It takes the human eye to really do the job.
