Very cool Kevin, interesting too. I well have a look at mine just for fun, enjoyed the video and I am watching with much interest. Were the exhaust lifters as worn, or were they in better shape ? Very interested in trying to help the Powerplus breath atleast as good as they did back in their day - neat stuff.

I made a video and some pictures to try and explain what I've learned about the PowerPlus Intake valve train:

I have that film, its very good if you are into old bikes. (Talk about stating the obvious!)
The problem is that I think I have lent it to someone and I cant remember who. If I can get it back I must watch it again.

I was telling Scott Larson about this movie 'White Knuckle' at AMCA last night, but I couldn't remember the name. I found a link to this trailer, so I figured I'd put out a shameless and unsolicited plug for it. I think it's available on Amazon. It's about the guys that rode the first Motorcycle Cannonball in 2010. In Felicia Morgan's words, "the rockstars of the motorcycle world." My favorite part is Jersey John Szalay's connecting rod story. And I've told him that. Check the trailer. Highly recommended.

Jason sent out an email to the Cannonball participants the other day. Not a lot to share yet, but they have laid out the route, and he did say that it would be 3875 Miles of Breathtaking, Scenic, Spectacular, and Challenging road ways.
Other than that, he shared this information:
September 8, 2018 Depart Portland, Maine
September 16, 2018 Arrive in Sturgis, SD
September 17, 2018 Rest Day Off, Sturgis, SD
September 23, 2018 Grand Finale Portland, OR

Here are some pictures of the high tech tools that I'm using to "reverse engineer" the Indian valve train parts:
The radius gauges are a Davenport find.

Thanks guys. I'm having fun with this. It takes a ton of time though. Making a digital model of something that was originally manually machined out of a stamped or forged piece of steel has turned out to be challenging and time consuming. I have literally spent over a hundred hours in front of the computer to reverse engineer these two parts. I'm ready to wrap this part up so I can start taking my bottom end apart for a refresh. My cylinders are in Chicago getting the chipped fins repaired and new valve seats. I'm hoping to have it all come together in time for spring riding season.
My fall work season will wind down soon, so I should have time to catch this thread up to date before long.
