Knucklehead valve guide seals

68Bagger,
As you probably know, Knucklehead engines did not come with valve guide seals, however V twin sells valve guide seals for stock valve guides. You can research them and see if they fit your requirements and scenario.
I typically do not use the V twin valve guide seal due to clearance issues. A long conversation...
I custom machine the OEM type valve guides and use a different valve guide seal.
Hope this helps,

Its been decades, 68,
But I used a Manley cutter almost like this one,

Except the right size for these .530" seals that I used on everything...

With proper care and attention to spring spacing, free travel, stem height, etc, etc., of course.

PS: Sealed modern cast-iron guides expected a much tighter clearance than OEM specs for 'carpenter steel', or perhaps bronze intakes, if they existed.
Indeed, the modern (post-modern?) "unleaded kit" also called for nitrided stems to go with the soft cast iron guides. (Knucks already had 'hard seats', the third part of the "kit".)
Repop guides might not have enough "meat".Last edited by T. Cotten; 05-09-2026, 03:05 PM.AMCA #776
