  • Harley shifter drum # 34016-52

Can anyone tell me what shifter drum part number 34016-52 is ? I see them on eBay but cannot find it in the parts catalogs , or Palmers book . Everything I see , has part number 34008-52 as the early foot shift drum .

The number stamped into the drum is a casting or production number, not a part number. The number in the book is the part number and they do not match.

Thank you Rubone . Their are three 34016-52 drums right now on eBay , one is not for a foot shift , but one of the other ones has written on it " NOT 4 SPEED " The reason I am posting this is that I have one in my ratchet lid & have set it with the shifter forks with the proper Harley tool & am having problems shifting it .So I took the lid off & went through the gears ( 1st , neutral , 2nd , 3rd & 4th ) I placed the lid on for each shifter fork setting & it goes on easily for all EXCEPT for 1st . The lid didn't come with the tranny . It looks like the grove in the drum for 1st is a little short of where it should be . Anybody had this problem ?

Never heard of any odd drums. There are 4 speed hand shift, 3&R handshift (also '39 only 4 speed) and footshift 4 speed. Until you get into the cast drums in the late '70s that is all there is. I have several here. Ive never had an issue putting any year pre-rotary top on any other 4 speed box.
