  • Linkert Carburetor Service

With a slew of Linkert carburetors to service/rebuild I started my day after Christmas with this beautiful 1937 M51.

What a gift/treat this one is! With such a rich and documented history, completely original untouched motorcycle, it surely shows with how nice the carburetor has survived after all these years!
It has sat for many years and the fuel system needed a lot of attention. Let's just say you could smell it a mile away!!!

After a nice ultra sonic bath it shows signs of continuing to perform as it was intended. I don't think I have personally ever run across one of this era this nice!

It cleaned up very well considering how varnished and fuel stained it was.

Ok. Good to know there is no picture. Weird as I can see it on my end and it's not my first time posting images.
Well here goes a photo attempt...

                  Its pretty, Duke!

But that tells us nothing about its condition.

                      That one ain't horrible, DEEBs!

A pass of a hone (with a torque plate, not shown) makes everything more visible, including distortions from occasional abuse:

Is there a motorcycle that goes with that carb, Duke? Love to see a picture of 'it' more than the carb

                          Eric,
Out of the owners request, I don't have the permission to post those pictures right now.
It's all original front to back. 20,000 miles.
Possibly in the future I can get the permission to post photos.

Here's one more. I probably should have moved it away from the other parts so it would have focused on the body of the carburetor better. I never was a photographer.
