    Andrews A cam for Panhead?

    Hi All
Found an old Andrews A cam in the basement...
Bought it new in the eighties...
Was running this cam with shovels on the Pan lower end... Bike is going back to a panhead like it belongs...
Can anyone shed some light for the applications this would be good for?
I am going over my 58 FL and am wondering if it would be ok for the rebuild...
Andrews makes an A2 cam now...
    Thank you in advance...
    Steve...

I've found the Andrews J cam to work well in Panheads.

Steve; Here are a couple of old Andrews cam charts that you can use to compare your cam with others. Sorry for the crummy scans.

IIRC the A requires valve spring spacing, the J is a drop-in.
The A is a nice power increase compared to the FLH.

Thinking the J cam is the way to go... Closest thing to stock...

J and A have both made me happy when in Shovels.

If you are indeed looking for stock, I think an H grind is what you want, no?

H Grind has no part number listed on Andrews web page... Is H grind cam available?

I believe S+S has one, put one in a 71 FX and it runs nice.

S&S makes one. Andrews or Leineweber would likely grind you one.

They're referring to the factory stock FLH cam.

That’s what I want... Hop up the FL to Stock FLH... THATS IT... ALL the hot rod stuff that’s going to happen with this bike...
is the J grind from Andrews equivalent to the stock FLH factory cam?

The J cam is hotter than the stock FLH cam. I don't believe anyone makes an FLH equivalent cam, so you'll have to find a used one.
