    Trans/speedo ratio??

    Hi All,
Wondering what year and speedo ratio my trans is. 1:1 or 2:1. Numbers on trans are 34703 65.

    Thanks!

That number means nothing in regard to speedo ratios. The gearing changed in '68, what year is the gearbox? The number you posted is common to both ratio type gearboxes.

Pull the gear for the speedo cable and post a picture. They can be identified by number of teeth and pitch profile.

Thanks Rubone, I will try to get to it this week. What does the N87721 represent?

Is it stamped on the right upper front of the case? If so it is a code that directly ties it to a certain VIN number. Commonly referred to as anti-theft codes. If that is where it is it will identify a time frame, not an exact year, but close. Did it originally come with your bike? If not just be aware that if it came from a bike reported stolen it can be traced to that bike. An "N" prefix number is likely '69, but without history of where it came from or what is inside it the best thing is still a picture.
