Does anyone know what model this number goes with? Verticals for 1949 are not supposed to have numeric codes on them.

I wanted to post a follow-up in case some readers were wondering as well and had never heard of this numbering issue. Recently I have communicated with someone who has been doing mechanical restoration of verticals since the late 70s in Milwaukee, WS. This person said the number is most likely a factory spare/replacement part. Such parts or number sequences were not placed in the factory literature, though could easily be assigned during post-production runs in case the need ever occurred.

Since that post Jim Sutter, retired and living in Hawaii has shared his Indian motorcycle factory schematics. the number shows up there in the same location, however, the frame sections with this number were allegedly made in the testing phase for a 1953 Experimental Warrior TT. When I purchased the frame and forks from Kentucky, the bike had a front center section of a 1951 Warrior TT. Ironically, if this is what they are, I bought another set of frames from Missouri and the rear frame had the same number on the back rail as well.

Opposite side serial number 1417003 for the 53 Experimental Warrior TT frame..JPG53 Experimental Warrior TT Serial Number 1417003.JPG Here are a few additional photos to show the serials together and an unusual stamp.
The circle and square are commonly found, though when you look closely at the square on this frame, there appears to be numeral 4 or a capital A inside.
The star stamp is something I have never seen before on a vertical frame.

These are the serial numbers that appear alongside the 1417003 on the same side, though in a lower position.

These raw metal photos are all of the second frame purchased from a seller in Union City, Kentucky. For some reason, the factory used different styled punches for the frame numbers.
If you compare the threes, they are different than each other in the two sets of numbers. Small serials appear to have been one style and the larger appear to have been another style.

Ben walker of Bonhams just emailed and said he cannot find anyone who knew about these. He could not provide an estimate of their value because no one can be found who has knowledge of this specific part. Being an experimental part might narrow the knowledge pool, though the only group who would or could have known have already been consulted and even they had never heard of them.
Mr. walker suggested contacting other members about this issue to see if anyone has any information.
We'll see.
Thank you.
