At some point it looks like a past owner lost the correct clevis pin for rear brake and put whatever fit in there despite it being way to long, which eventually sawed though the rear exhaust pipe.
After welding the patch in I peened it a bunch with a body hammer to try and match existing pipe better. Going to try and rust it a bit eventually to hopefully bring the patina a little closer.
Need to completely remake the pipe for front cylinder as it's 100% toast. 20251129_100233.jpg 20251213_095521.jpg 20251213_104025.jpg 20251213_104017.jpg 20251213_113318.jpg

Well this was a journey. The original exhaust, like most of the bike had it's day with some parts being reduced to more or less an apparition. At the very least there was enough material left to make an educated guess as to how it would have been. So I rolled up some metal, I don't have a slip roller but what I do have is some drill stem that has the exact ID that I need to form my exhaust. Having done that I made up a buck to press it into shape. All things considered it turned out pretty good. Freed up the rusted in place exhaust cutout and fabricated a new handle for it. All that's left now is to form up front cylinder pipe. 20251127_172118.jpg 20251127_172251.jpg 20251127_172337.jpg 20251230_105725.jpg 20251230_113044.jpg

Wow that's some handywork! Nicely done. Your bike is going to look like new when you're done.

Sure hope not . Wanting to keep it patina bike. Finally tracked down some pipe the correct size to make front cylinder exhaust pipe out of. After burning all the paint off it, matches fairly decent with rest of bike. 20260102_104729.jpg

OK, I get it. Saltwater spray on the new parts?

Yes. Once I'm finished doing the necessary repairs for the bike to function properly, everything new will be made to look as storied as the rest of the bike.

Exciting day around here as I fired the bike up for the first time in 80 or so years. The front exhaust pipe fell off because the retaining nut is too big, possibly off later model. That would explain why previous pipe was wired on. Proper nut already coming in the mail.
