  • Nickel Plating

I have a full bike worth of nuts, bolts, hardware, brackets, etc. that need to be nickel plated. The place that I've used for many years is closing so I need a new place to send them. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

That said . . .nickle is just as expensive as chrome -- but YOU can do nickle at home without much trouble.

I literally used up a Caswell Nickle plating kit -- did four full bikes. I still ride one regularly and 15 years later -- the nickle has turned soft and buttery colored; just like old nickle should. It's really quite, quite simple to nickle plate.

As Steve said above, the Caswell electroless nickel kit works very well and actually is kind of fun to use. Cleanliness is paramount for a successful job. My 1919 Henderson has Caswell nickel plating I did over 20 years ago still looking good. When it does dull with age, a bit of polishing with Mother's mag & wheel polish will bring it right back. Nickel is a wicked tough metal.

Thanks guys, I've got the Caswell nickel kit (not the electroless) and it is nice but would not be good for lots of parts. The electroless looks a lot easier.
