  • Motorcycle Racer/Photographer, c. 1911-12, in the "Smithsonian" magazine.

    There is an interesting three (3) page article concerning Franklin Van Order, an early motorcycle racer/photographer, in the April, 2011, issue of the "Smithsonian" magazine.

        Eric and Cory, all images or at least those that have been trough the hands of the curator that did the scans for Smithsonians are found here (in case you didnt know, which you most likely did);
        http://www.photographicimage.com/mer...?id=254&step=2

        Seems like a decent glimpse is min 290USD, obviously not for me. Lets hope someone buy a copy of them all to share :-) !!!!!

        Eric would be nice to see some photos of your cutdown if possible,

        Thanks in advance

        And then there is the idea that we are here on earth to get a certain amount of things done before we die.
        This is a great theory.
        If it is true, I am so far behind that I will never die...

          I don't recall seeing that site before Sverre. Thanks for the link. Do you have a copy of American Racer 1900-1940? Most of the pictures are in that book.

          Did somebody say cutdown???

            Cory, I hadnt seen that link myself until doing a quick research on the names surfacing in the Smithsonian article. Oh, yes I have had my American Racer book since mid ninties. I worked in Huston when I found that in a bookstore, I bought it immideately :-)
            I find there must be quite a few photos not in the book at the web site, they are all super cool anyway.

            Eric is an expert:
