Hmmm. Kevin Valentine was the forum chief at the time this censorship came up before. He hates censorship, and went right into the program and got "JAP" off the censorship list. Looks like we have a few more likely candidates, unless we're all content to be treated like nine year olds. I wonder if anyone in charge of this forum is reading?

          Thoughts from an old fossil:
Whether you are elected by the membership, or by the board, these volunteer positions are a lot of work, and often thankless. It is also a very expensive pass-time, even with the more generous expense allowances of the past. They do have their rewards though, assuming you don't screw up too badly. (No doubt that will get censored). Probably the most stressful job of all is that of chief judge. The stress comes from the membership as well as from the other judges. Dare I say that judging attracts those with rather strong opinions.
Personally, I was never big on the whole judging concept when I was president, but was more or less stuck with it. I would have scrapped the whole thing given the chance, but would have risked impeachment had I tried.
The largest old motorcycle club on the globe is not the AMCA as many think, but the 17000 member VMCC in the UK, formed in the late forties. They have never had judging of any kind, apart from a few "prizes" given out by their Sections, (what they call chapters) and most not for restorations, but for performances in events. Surprisingly, their restorations are every bit as meticulous as ours. This comes about not by judging, but by peer pressure alone. The trade off is that there are ten or fifteen times as many club events during the calendar year, as well as sections dedicated to, for example, racing, cycle-motors, veterans (pre-15), and other specialties as well as geographic locations.
Swap Meets, (which they call Autojumbles), and judging events are left to the private sector. Many other clubs operate the same way. I think they may have something.
