  • Weather at Rhinebeck

Anybody got a line on the weather and if it rains should I stay home?

Its a little soon to predict weather but there are around 250 or more vending spots sold and there are 4 large indoor buildings. The meet goes on rain or shine. Mid-America is having an indoor auction Sat. Banquet Sat nite with excellent food. I would look at weather Tues. and make whatever decision you need to. Hope to see you there. Last year it called for rain and it was beautiful every day, Rain at nite to cool things off.

So who are they going to arrest, hound and generally brake the balls of this year? The meet sucks because of its location and it needs to be changed. Nobody is going to tell me that we can’t find a host like Oley or Jefferson in the Hudson Valley. Bob L

I think Rhinebeck is one of the best meets there is. I went to Oley and I think Rhinebeck is a much better location. You must have done something very wrong at Rhinebeck.

Are you brain dead? Do you own and antique motorcycle? Are you active in the club? Or did you just stop by? Oley beats Rhinebeck hands down. Which planet are you living on? Bob L

Rule #1: The minute you get personal and start degrading someone because of their opinion you lose the argument. Now to your questions. Yes I own several antique Indians. Eight in fact. I have been riding Indians since I was a kid. My grandfather worked for Indian. What I said was rhinebeck is a better location. The camping at Oley is away from the meet in a small lot. Rhinebeck is larger location and able to handle more people. That said I enjoy both meets and yes I have been to Oley several times. I have bought two bikes at Oley, a four 15 years ago and a vertical. So now I will go back to my planet.

Reminds me of the old truism:

Than to open it and remove all doubt."

Bob says what he thinks. That can be a blessing and a curse which is something we all have in common.

Do AMCA Members get in FREE if the Ride their Bikes in? Or does everybody have to pay regardless of how far the ride to the meet on an Antique Steed like in denton?

Admission to every AMCA meet I have ever been to was free. A donation for parking was the only cost.

To my knowledge everyone pays. Make sure you bring your membership card for the discount too. No card, no discount. This is the only meet with a fee (fees are listed on the website: http://www.rhinebecknationalmeet.com/). The fee is to help cover the costs of the premiere facilities which are appreciated by many, but not all as is always the case. I happen to like the meet over Oley because of the different activities (auctions, timelines, wall of death, etc.) plus the flat level ground and paved roadways not to mention the 250+ vendors that are confirmed. Of course, I'm a little partial because I was born and raised in Rhinebeck. In the end, any meet is a good meet in my book!

Anyone who rides their antique bike into the meet or has a bike for display is in for free. Please enter thru the vending gate, not the main gate.
