Very nice trophy. The Ray Artley awards too.

Oscar Lenz was quite a guy and would have had a million authentic stories to tell. He was Mr. Jack Pine for many years. Since I live in jack pine & sand barrens country myself and have a Yamaha XT-500, I can appreciate the tough conditions those early riders endured.

Lenz was also one of first experimenters who "hit the bottle" and "picked up the pipe" c1925 and adapted 21 OHV top end components to make an all-overhead Two-Cam for hillclimbing purposes. This was before H-D had anything in the 45-inch class. I believe that Lenz's Two-Cam/OHV might still exist.

Wow! Very cool trophies fellas! Thanks for posting the auction Herb! That's one great piece of history you won there Lonnie. Looks like Ollerman to me..... the scuff marks only add character.......

pem (Dick Werner) said it looked to him that maybe the "scuff" marks were an attempt to intentionally erase the name. I wonder.

I asked the guy that I bought the Oscar Lenz trophy from where he found it. He found it in a Salvation Army store in Ohio.

He was quite a rider. Too bad his life was so short.

That one's a beauty and from another well known important guy to boot. Plus it has an excellent artistic representation of a motorcycle on it. Outstanding!

This reminds of a story I heard a few years ago about Wm. S. Harley's diploma. I believe his university diploma. That it was found in an attic in an old Milwaukee home not too many years ago. From there it went into the hands of a collector. That was the story at least. Not surprising that something should turn up at Salvation Army...

Its nice to see they gave the tuner of the machine some credit as well as the rider.

                        You're right. A great relic.

Rub, where did this Big Bear award turn up?

                          Herb,
I got it on eBay from a guy in California who found it in an estate sale of some sort. He wasn't a motorcycle guy and had nothing else. I happened to see it and recognize it for what it was.
