To complete your outfit, try goldenagemotorcycleclothing.com Mike Merling has sweaters, breeches, goggles, kidney belts , club shirts, and many other items that he has had reproduced from original samples that are spot on to the originals. In most cases he has used the OEM supplier for his items. ----Michael--AMCA 6671

Dave, From the website, it sounded like you were from Portland, but apparently not. Any chance you are from Chicago, or that you have some background on the "Gasoline Cowboy" name?

Wasn't that the name of a dresser club in the Chicago area? circa 60s & 70s?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the color of boots worn in the 30's and early 40's. It is hard to tell from b/w pictures if they are black or brown. I understand that many people used WWII US Cavalry boots and these were all brown. However it appears that most kidney belts were black. Did they try to match boots with belts?

                      Bob,

US WW2 boots were brown and alot of riders wore their US military boots during this time.

Just in case anyone was looking for a exact re-issue of genuine Harley-Davison competition sweaters from the 1939 Accessories Catalog, we at Gasoline Cowboys just delivered these to the H-D museum.
