Tom,
I work with stainless tube & pipe in the paper industry. I have found that the area around a weld will blue even when the proper backing gas such as argon is used during the welding process. Buffing the area with a compound such as Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish will take the blue away. This will also work on heavily blued exhaust pipes. Try it on your fire blued nickle based coatings.Membership # 2926
