  • Blued stainless and chrome

Just purchased a 1950 Hydra-Glide from original owner. The bike caught on fire in the early 50's and blued and discolored some of the stainless steel and chrome. Is there anyway to remove the discoloring? Thanks Tom

Not without fresh chrome. The stainless is blue forever.

      Tom,
I work with stainless tube & pipe in the paper industry. I have found that the area around a weld will blue even when the proper backing gas such as argon is used during the welding process. Buffing the area with a compound such as Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish will take the blue away. This will also work on heavily blued exhaust pipes. Try it on your fire blued nickle based coatings.
