That's the one Chris. Weird thing is that he occasionally has real literature mixed in! Still best to steer clear!

So has one of you who had a bad experience with this guy listed his two ebay names under the "Vendord Rated" section so unknowing members can avoid this guy?

Well I'd like to jack this thread back to case numbers, and their new role in the title process in my state.

Why the hell does it matter what happens in LaLa land, someone asked. I thought the same thing, here in Illinois, until last month, when I tried to title two old bikes.

In the past, I surrendered a title from the seller, and that was it. Got my new title in a couple of weeks. But now there are new rules. I got a letter back from the state police saying there was a problem and my title was not going to be released. This after the plates came in the mail.

I soon discovered a signed VIN inspection affidavit, filled out by a local or state officer is now required. And, the state now requires good photos of the VIN numbers as well, for all machines pre 1950, in jpeg format. They even offered to send one of their special inspectors to my place, or if I wanted I could bring my bikes to their inspection facility. No thanks.

I got the titles after providing what was asked, but I was not happy about this new process.

I don't have an issue with the photo evidence. Nor do I have one with the visual inspection. Ohio requires a signed off document, for out of state vehicles. They are obtainable at most dealerships and highway patrol posts for a very small fee. Paps

I own a legal title for an early HD. It is in my name. I left the cases at a friends for bead blasting. His shed caught fire and melted my cases, along with everything he had in there, down to the ground. Since I can not produce those cases...I am turd out of luck ? The title in my name is useless ? Paps, Why not put it on e-bay for about $600? It could make a nice wall hanging in one of those high fluting restaurants.

                Steve,

Ebay doesn't allow titles to be sold.

I have been State-Licensed in Illinois since 1993, and wrote titlebond appraisals regularly, and even an Affidavit of Authenticity for State Police Investigators at their request.

My authority is now denied by bureaucrats,
and I was treated like a criminal over the phone.

An associate who tried an out-of-state title mill was notified that he attempted mail fraud, and that machine now can never be titled in Illinois.

Tom you are right! I put up a couple of dirt bikes on Fleese-Bay a month ago and used the wording "Comes with clean title" and they nick it.

Here's one that just ended. No bids though. He didn't call it a title just called it vintage paper.

So how about my cracked short-rib case? I'd like to restore the number boss to its original condition and re-stamp my numbers into the case.
This is a legitimate use of those number stamps, isn't it?

                            Ralph!

By the most strict letter of the law in most states, no.
However, you may still be able to accomplish it under the direct auspices of your authorities.

This was possible in Illinois until Governor "Blago" bankrupted the State, and it subsequently turned into a desk-nazi regime.

Not just an opinion, but a fact,

The way I look at is simple. I own that number and the piece of paper that goes with it. As long as I don’t allow that number to exist on any more than one case I’ve done no wrong but the letter of the law where you live is where it’s at. The bottom line here is. If you’re going to do it? Do it well! The last thing you would want is to finish a project and be showing it off at say Reinbeck time line and have a numbers pro from the state police have it leave faster than it arrived, on a flat bed.

That one was not ended by Ebay or you would not be able to view it. When they dump a listing it can be found nowhere. That listing was ended early by the seller, probably to sell off Ebay and save paying fees. It had a $1200 bid on it. That is stupid money for a title. I've never heard of one bringing that much.
